lego studio

It all started with a discussion about Jay moving his office back home. ”We’ll need to move this computer here”…”the sewing stuff will need to go upstairs”…”we’ll put the desk here” and so on. Then we brought some legos downstairs from the boys room and started a mini-fig building project that weekend.
Well, one thing led to another and I was in full rearrange mode on Monday. I moved my sewing room back upstairs where it was originally. The legos and table are now downstairs where the sewing room was. Some chairs were moved upstairs to allow for more space in the living room/dining room and Jay’s office is now upstairs in a spare room we use for watching movies. I can now say that we are using all the rooms in the house everyday.
I’m especially excited about the Lego Studio, as we have come to call it. We had the work table, it was originally a bed that my Dad made for my nephew and Ian used it until we got the boys’ bunk bed. It is perfect for storing, sorting and building. I had some of the plastic bins for storing and purchased 12 clear shoe box bins for sorting by color.
Legos are something that Jay is passionate about. He grew up collecting them as a child and could not wait to share his interest with the kids. I, on the other hand, did not grow up building with Legos and am not a big collector. It’s taken me a while to get used to the idea of many little pieces of plastic all over the place. Being the anal organizer that I am, everything must have a place – enter in the bins to store and the shelves to display. I’ve noticed a really cool trend now that the Legos are downstairs. At various times in the day you might find one, two or all of us sorting, building and creating with Legos. That my friend is pretty cool and nerdy. A family that builds together, stays together!

Hi Nancy-
This lego studio is so cool! I have such excellent memories of trips to the Henry house in PA, and the giant room of legos
Glad to see the lego enthusiasm passed on, albeit in a much more organized fashion!
yes, I believe it has definitely passed on
