  • Love your photos – that last bird is a gold finch they look sort of olive in winter. Heres a link about it – they’re one of my favorites.

WOW!!! What great pics you guys have. I haven’t seen the woodpeckers yet! I’ve just located a bird that I’ve been hearing that sounds like a duck, but looks like a crow. I should take a pic and try to identify it! We’re putting out our hummingbird feeders soon!

    Hi Nancy,
I always love visiting the Henry Homestead via Emerald Lane. I wanted to invite you and Jay to the English Country Ball, but my email bounced back. Could you send me a note so I can resend to your current address. Thanks! Great pictures!!!

  • Definately not a meadow lark– the bird is too small.

Gold finch– if it is a gold finch it has the most beautiful song. Very distinguishing characteristic. How big was it? Gold finches are about 5 inches. meadow larks about 9.5 inches. I love goldfinches. They are so beautiful– those blue birds are too.

Jeff and I realy like National geographics Field Guide to Birds of north America to help us identify various birds.

Those picks are beautiful– makes me want a Digital SLR….I miss all the great birds you can see in warm moist climates.

jeff thinks it is some type of warbler. maybe pine warbler– it would help if we could see the beak.

    fun photos!

  • I think it is pine warbler based on head shape and beak.
