Sewing myself Silly
| November 16, 2009 | Posted by nancy under CREATE |
That’s right!
I still own a sewing machine and I have some fabric and when I get the urge, I sew. It started with a sling that I made for my cousin who is expecting her first baby.
I don’t make them anymore, but I made and exception of course.
Thanks dear cousin for helping me shake some of the dust off the old machine.

After the sling, I made a clutch out of some fat quarters. I found the pattern on the BHG website.
I’ve been eying these bags and really wanted one, but decided that I would give it a try.
I used some fabric that my S.I.L. gave me from Thailand. It’s a woven and it has a very nice feel to it, almost silky.
I like the bag, it’s roomy and comfortable to wear. It has a magnetic snap closure, a wide handle with gold ring details and an elastic front pocket for my keys and cell phone or whatever.
I’m dreaming up some Christmas sewing while I’m in the sewing mood!

Hi Nancy,
Great job on your bags, etc.. If you start to get the bug some more, the quilt shop I work @ has some great fabrics like these and wonderful patterns for other styles. I dont know if you’ve heard of the designer Amy Butler, but her patterns are very simular to these.
You can go to our website http://www.oldegreencupboard.com for more info on where to find us and we dod sell some online.
Sincerely,
Heather Lynn (Parsons)
Hey, I’ve got some Thai fabric! Maybe I’ll try to make one of those bags. After I finish the flannel jammies that I have cut out for Vinnie. I finally finished Linc’s jammies (after the pieces have been sitting out for a month) because he was so whiny, I mean persistant, about reminding me.
Heather: the striped fabric and the lining I used for the bag came from your shop:) I think the clutch is actually Amy Butler’s pattern, but it was on the BHG site. I do like her fabrics and have one of her books, but her patterns are not explained well. Have you sewn any of her designs? Thanks for the link, once I use up some of my stash, I need to supplement for sure. Do you have an Grand Revival in right now? I really like the line.
Becky: The Thai fabric is great to work with, you won’t be disappointed. Have fun sewing those jammies. Sean was the same way about a pair pants he wanted me to make for him-they are persistent buggers!
Nancy,
LOVE the Thai bag…and of course the other items too. =) Sorry I didn’t get over to see it in person, but thanks for posting…
we had a great time with you all, looking forward to Thanksgiving!
love yah!
Thank you dear cousin for the wonderful sling. I absolutely love it.
Love the clutch and bag you did. Happy to have given you some inspiration and get some dust off your machine.
Now it is my turn to dust my machine off again, somewhere in between feedings, diaper changes, naps for me & baby and all the other stuff.
