summer update
| July 17, 2009 | Posted by nancy under LIFE |

Grammie’s birds are growing up. Since they arrived in April, a new chicken tractor has been built and designed by Grampie and a few new birds have been added to the brood. There are some turkeys, which really scare me with their bumpy heads and extra large size and some laying hens that a friend was getting rid of. We got one of the first eggs last night and looking forward to tasting that fresh egg. One divided by 5 isn’t much, but it’s a start.
That crazy, black and white chicken is an exotic named Turbin. He cracks me up everytime I see him with his fluffy feathers sticking out of his head. Not sure what his future is, but he’s fun to watch.

Grammie’s garden is hanging in despite the crazy rain and heat we’ve been having this summer. I discovered a cantaloupe and pepper growing and some bean plants standing up straight all in a line. Florida gardens are tough, but Grammie’s got the knack for it. The kid’s and I have enjoyed watching it grow!

On our way back to the house on our walk by the garden we discovered this Great Egret fishing in the pond. Isn’t he beautiful?

Nancy,
Thanks for all the kind words…we had two more eggs today! I dont know about the Knack for gardening; but can be stubborn and I do keep hanging in there…

Nance,
Love the pictures and the descriptions. Thanks!
you think florida is tough for gardening, try it in the middle of the desert when we have not see rain in about 2 months and the rains will not come again until next march and temps out side are 105 everyday. I am hot just typing this to you.
I do miss all the wonderful florida birds–
Kristi: i want to see pictures of your garden now:) Can’t you come over and play in the MHS Alumni match? You can stay with me!!
