Thanks for all the birthday greetings for Ian. He is just over the moon to be six and just can’t stop smiling. Each time he heard everyone sing “Happy Birthday” to him he couldn’t keep the silly smile off his face.
Yes, I did make the pirate ship cake, here’s a link to the recipe. It was fairly easy to put together, the hardest part was finding the candies to decorate with. When Ian first spotted the cake online, I thought it would be way out of my league, but once I read the recipe it seemed simple. Since we are big into pirates around here, we had the pirate figures already and once you add some chopsticks for the mast and some paper sails we were set.
I forgot to metion that Jay and I also dressed up. Erin also joined in with a very cute piratey shirt and she could be spotted running around with a sword a time or two. Thanks also goes out to Amy for taking most of the birthday pics including this one.

Ha ha! I thought later that I should not have let you guys be so serious in the picture. Jay most definitely should have been Arrrgh-ing.
love it. you guys look wonderful!
Can’t believe that Ian is already six. Adam just turned five and suddenly was able to do all sorts of new things on the day of his birthday. For example, he put away the stool that he stands on to brush his teeth each night just because he could now reach the his toothbrush amazingly.
It is incredible how fast they grow. I’m thankful for each day.
