The Very Educated Caterpillar

It’s hard to see, but there is a nice little pupa hanging from the top of the screen. It is another monarch butterfly, like the one we had one last year. Grammie brought over the largest catepilar I’d ever seen and the next day it was busy forming it’s outter shell called a pupa/chyrsalis. I really wanted to see what it looked like while it was changing from a catepillar to a pupa, but it was so fast and we caught it a little late, but we did see some change. The butterfly should emerge 10-15 days from May 5th and we’ll have some pictures to share then of our spring butterfly.

For now, I’ll leave you with a picture of Ian reading to the pupa, The Very Hungry Catepillar. He read it on his own without my help, very exciting and I’m sure it helped the little guy not be so bored.

Way to go with the reading Ian. We are soooo very proud of you!
love, Grammie
