Thank you all for your kind emails. They were all encouraging in their own way and I appreciate them all.
Spring seems to bring all kinds of opportunities to get outside and get together with others for picnics, parties and festivals. We have been taking advantage of the great weather and the not so great. We even braved the rain last weekend twice and enjoyed ourselves dispite the wet ground.
A 2 year old birthday party gave me the chance to get back into some craftiness and work with my hands. The party invitation had a cute farm theme and I wanted to make something that would go with that and be fun to play with. I wanted to make finger puppets so I did a little research online and found these, which as you can tell I copied, but I’m not selling these, so it’s okay. I found a cute red metal lunch box at Micheal’s and put some natural bedding inside to place the puppets on. They were sewn by hand, which I don’t normally like to do, but I actually enjoyed it.
This weekend I have a bridal shower to attend and what does a new bride need but a lovely apron! I saw this apron here (can’t find the actual apron) first and then bought the pattern when Joann’s was having a $1 pattern sale. When browsing my fabric stash I thought this floral would be perfect, but I didn’t have enough for the whole apron, so I used this coordinating linen/cotton blend. I started cutting and then discovered I didn’t have enough of the solid, so I had to improvise. I don’t mind doing that, it’s sort of fun and a challenge. I like to use what I have and most of the time it ends up looking much better than the original plan.

So, HERE’S to parties and showers and all the motivation a girl needs to get crafty and make something new! Have a great weekend!

Hey Nancy,
I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I can’t remember if you told me that you were pregnant when I saw you last. I’m glad to hear that you are doing and feeling better. I’m sure having your kids around help take you mind off of it and keep your spirits high! I like the cute stuff you’ve been making. I’ve been trying to stay busy with some crafty stuff also! Hopefully our next visit in town we can get together with the kids! Take care and give your family my love!
Allison
Nance,
I’m sad with you but glad to hear how cared-for and loved you feel.
The puppets are adorable and as usual, made with a dash of Nancy-ness. They remind me of the white terry-cloth bunny my mom made for me when I was little. Helen must have a pic of it in the family photo album. Mom would made matching pjs to mine for the bunny. I carried and kept it till it was just a rag.
We are so excited to be coming in June with Claire in tow. I can’t wait to meet your kids and see your home and surroundings in person.
I’ll be praying for the joy of the Lord to be your strength as you go through the next days.
Love, Aunt Ruth
nancy,
I love all the things you think up to make! It warms my heart.
The apron is beautiful and the “farm/birthday” gift adorable.
love, momH
That apron makes an excellent spring reminder for even the dreariest weather day.
Love love love the puppets. Hmmm…might try something like that with some felted knitting.
