With a friend’s birthday already one day behind, I went through my many apron patterns and stash of fabric and TADA! A gift for said friend, a day late! It’s a Simplicity pattern that calls for piping, which I was surprised I actually had on hand and I think it gives it a very professional look. I just love the combination of the cherry and polka dot fabric. The pocket is lined in the polka dot and then I turned it over to expose some of that cute fabric.

I am trying to get motivated to make more gifts for the ever increasing family, which I totally forgot to mention that there is a new girl that has just been added, Adele Grace. She has the cutest little face! Oh gifts, that’s right! Christmas is fast approaching and I must start getting into gear if I’m going to make some gifts this year, which is what it looks like I’m going to have to do because of the new business and all. Don’t get me wrong, it’s going really well, Jay has too much work to get done in a normal business day, it’s going to take time to see some profit I’m sure. It’s all very exciting! With that said, I’m going to have to get creative in many ways, which can be a plus for this blog. I’ll have more to share around here in the crafty department.

Do you remember doing this in school?

You know, collecting the first fallen leaves, or picking the pretty ones off the tree, and placing them between the shiny sides of wax paper and ironing them together.

We have a few leaves on the ground around here, mostly brown ones from oak trees and the ones with the five points are from sugar gum trees. Those at least look like maple leaves and have some interesting spots or might be yellowish/brown. I did find a vine which had a really pretty red leaf on it and I picked it and casually let it fall to the ground. Does that count?
Next, acorns. There are lots around and I think will collect some and figure out what to make with them. Any ideas!

This is what happens when the boys are off for the day. Mom gets out her camera and takes a few pictures of this cutie pie. I managed to get her waving, clapping and going after Huckleberry.
We had a picture perfect weekend, excuse the pun, the coolish fall weather made taking care of the yard managable. The yard was mowed, even edged and various other chores checked off the list. We still have lots we want to do around here, but all we have is time, right?

It was feeling a little depressing around here with all that talk about rain I just had to share this beautiful day with you all. Today it was 56 degrees when we woke up and now it is warm, sunny and the skies are clear and blue, as you can tell. Fall is finally coming around and peeking into our southeastern corner of the U.S. It will probably not stick around, but I will take it and savor every bit of it I can.

While I was out taking shots of the sky, I got this one. I love how the white contrasts with the bright blue sky and do you notice the side window peeking through the front window? Don’t mind the bike when you come in, just shove it out of the way!
We are off to a Low-Country Boil tonight to network for the business and it’s time to get to work outside on some much needed chores on Saturday, while the boys go off to the Butterfly Festival with my parents. Have a lovely weekend!

I feel like we’ve been teleported to Seattle. The weather is more Northwestern that Southeastern. Jay is off hiking this weekend so the babes and I are on our own. We have things planned, indoors of course, to keep up busy. I am getting a little break this morning. I have a date with my hairstylist and and coupon for the local craft store burning a hole in my pocket.
Have a great weekend from the dripping wet “Sunshine” State!

We have had record rain fall here in our NE corner of Florida this week; 10″ in two days, which I’m told is equivalent to 8 to 9 feet of snow. We did brave the rain because we had to eat and had to have entertainment, so a trip to the grocery and library were made. Let me just say that I’m am just so very glad that it was rain and not snow.
This little picture collage represents the day after the storm and our attempt to get out and stretch our legs. We made beanbags, on the fly of course, out of what else, but dry beans and doubled up plastic baggies. Our chalk target didn’t hold up to the wet pavement though. Ian’s hands were totally pink and he decided that he was turning into Spiderman of course. After Ian’s announcement, Sean decided he was going to become like Spidey Man and lay face down on the target and wave his arms around. He too wanted to be like “Bubba” and become a super hero.

Caught in the act, Little Miss grins with guilt. She lowers herself to the floor, ever so gently, in an attempt to attack the one who discovered her. Now on all fours, she crawls across the floor with determination like no other 8 month old in history. She reaches her target in record time to dispose of the evidence. Stay tuned for more adventures of Little Miss as she explores the deep unknown caverns of the Henry Home…..

Here’s the result of some time I squeezed in to sew over the weekend; one cute chocolate brown and pink bib and changing pad set and a pair of adorable “bitty booties”, pattern courtesy of Heather Bailey. The bib set is my standard baby shower gift, it’s easy and quick to make and since I have less and less time to dedicate to sewing these days, I can use more easy, you know like the “EASY” button. The booties were a impulse thing, I had the material and the pattern available and I thought I’d try them out. They were fairly easy to make. I went with a simple look, but next time I’m going crazy with the embellishments, wild I tell you! Probably not, I always chicken out when it comes to fancy, just plain and simple for me usually.
