I had plans to make a really cute apron for this month’s Rick-Rack Theme over at TOO, with 4 different colors of rick-rack, we are talking lots of rick-rack. Anyway, I just haven’t been able to carve out the time for that project, but I did make this cute little smock for my baby girl from a pattern I found here, and it has rick-rack on it, so I guess it qualifies! It’s a little big, but at the rate she is growing, I’m sure it will fit by this summer or next summer over some shorts with some boots while she runs after her two big brothers.

It is lined with a green and purple striped fabric, which I used for the bloomers and the little pocket that has the green rick rack accent at the top. The outer fabric was given to me by a quilter who was thinning out her stash of fabric and I love how girly it is. I’m really getting into having a girl and I’m so excited about all the cute dresses, bloomers, and aprons I get to make for her!

While we were exploring outside yesterday, we noticed something different about the duck nest. The eggs were cracked open and they looked very dry. There was no sign of the mother duck or the chicks, so we assumed the nest had been raided by a raccoon. An hour later, Jay discovered six ducklings near the nest in a little huddle. In an attempt to protect the ducklings, as we thought they had been abandoned by their mother, we gathered them up and put them in the barn.

While I was walking back to the house with the boys, Ian and I heard more peeping and found six more ducklings in a huddle, 12 ducklings total! Soon after we had found all the ducklings, the mother started looking for her chicks and calling them. So it was back to the barn for the ducklings and then we reunited them with their mother, much better. It was a happy reunion! As the mother called for her chicks, they scurried towards her and huddled up under her. She then lead them to the pond where they spent a happy afternoon swimming, diving, and resting on the bank. Found a moment to hop onto the computer and post some pictures from Easter Sunday. Thank you to those who gave me pictures!

It was a beautiful day that we were able to share with family and friends. The service was awesome; those of you that were there I’m sure agree. There were over 750 people in attendance, which was close to a record. Our boys were both baptised as infants, but for some reason this time it was different. It truly felt like she was a bride in her gown!

The gathering at our house was such fun, with the little and big children running all over together trying to find all the Easter eggs! I must brag on my parents for a moment; the last picture is a cupcake tree that my Dad built and the cupcakes were made by my Mom, all 96 of them, yummy!
Thanks to everyone who helped to make the day special by bringing something, helping with the set up, and celebrating with us!

I wasn’t sure what title to give this post, because it is merely a way to let you know that I have two new creations available over on the “Emerald Lane Creations” page of this blog. So, hop on over and check out what’s new!
By the way, this cute little guy or lady, not sure of the gender, is was Ian’s new friend. It had an apple body, carrot feet and nose, asparagus arms and mouth, lettuce hair, blackberry eyes (which were from the woods) and a strawberry hat. I assure you, all was eaten except for the arms and mouth!

pictures of the baptism and lunch at our house on Sunday!
With all the commotion; getting ready for church, going to church and then having 35 people over for lunch afterwards, I managed not to take any pictures of the day.
Please email me any pictures you were able to take, thanks!!

it’s been a very busy week; going here and there, buying this and that. we are getting ready for Erin’s baptism and celebration lunch on Sunday! i’ve gathered all the food and party things and Jay worked in the yard cleaning up and washing off the porches, on his day off. the picture above has nothing to do with this week, it is Ian’s picture list he drew for his “guy night” campout. he camped out with bubba and daddy last weekend while I was off on a retreat. the red is a fire of course and the two people are roasting marshmellows. i love his drawings!

the mallard duck is nesting, so we’ll see if we have ducklings for Easter!

cool vintage sheets I picked up on a little thrifting spree. can you believe there was a thrift store at the retreat center? how convenient!
Have a great weekend and I’m sure I’ll have some great pictures to share of our Easter next week!
