Well, the leaves are not changing and the air is not crisp and cool, but we did have our first fire outside. Last year starting in the fall, we would go outside and start up a fire and roast marshmellows. So, we enjoyed our first fire of the season last night. It’s very relaxing to sit around the fire and the boys can’t resist that burned to a crisp mellow.
I asked Ian to collect the mail for me while I waited on the porch. I watched while he stood on his tippie toes to reach in the box and dropped all the mail on the ground and this is how he brought it to me. This was only the grocery store circulars and he had to go back and get the rest of the junk mail.
Ian and I spent a good part of the morning talking about pirates and talking like pirates, looking up sea chanteys on the internet and making pirate crafts. While I was busy taking a nap Ian drew this picture of a pirate ship which includes a jolly roger, double sails, pirates with swords and water. I asked Ian if Daddy had helped him draw it and Jay asked Ian if Mommy had helped him draw it. Neither of us helped him. It’s so cool, I love that he has such a great imagination and pretty good drawing skills if I say so myself.

nancy, that is an excellant drawing by ian and worthy of a frame i think
love, mom
I am SO impressed Ian! Can I hire you to do some artwork? (Nancy, I would definitely get that framed!)
The first fire sounds nice…no chance of that here (unless it’s a rubbish fire!) Enjoy the fall. ARe you guys doing your fall hoe down again? Just wondering! That looked like a lot of fun.
love you all-
Tell Ian that Josh was very inpressed with his drawing (we all were), but I’m thinking that Josh is the only one he’ll care about
How fun, regular marshmallow roasting in the Fall without having to go camping. That is too sweet, that both of you asked if the other had helped and your budding artist did such a detailed drawing. That’s a scrapbook page for sure.
That is a great drawing! Ian did an awesome job. He captured so much detail!
